The Various Mediums Used to Consume Hemp

ere are several ways to ingest CBD and how that is done relies primarily on the user’s preference.

CBD can be ingested in various ways with some having no possible negative impacts, while others, especially when smoking or vaping either the flower or more refined products can have on your lungs, especially with long term use.

There isn’t currently a set dosage or timing schedule, and every person metabolizes things differently. Therefore, when beginning down the path of using CBD, take note of how much and how often your body requires CBD for you to feel your best. Your experience will be unique to you.

While CBD is generally well tolerated, in some people it can cause diarrhea, fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth and increased appetite, though these effects are fairly uncommon.

Let’s take a look at each.

Smoking flower is the most common way of ingesting CBD and while this is quite popular, concerns around long term impacts on the lungs abound. That said, smoking is a straightforward way to intake CBD in a way that enters the blood stream immediately.

Taking CBD oil sublingually is both effective and safe. This application requires putting a few drops under the tongue and allowing it to rest there about 90 seconds before swallowing. CBD oil can also be dispersed by using it in a vaporizer and breathing in the fog. Both applications allow the CBD to enter the blood stream quickly and has no adverse affects.

Topical application of CBD oil, lotions and creams (applying it to the skin) can promote relief from such ailments as arthritis, pain and stress and skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis. Studies have also shown CBD oil applied to minor wounds promotes healing, though the science of why or how is not yet understood. Oil can be used straight or added to a carrier such as coconut oil prior to topical application.

CBD tincture is less potent than oil but like oil, is taken sublingually. Given its reduced potency, tinctures, may require more to achieve the same results as using CBD oil

Edibles are usually baked items, chocolates or candies infused with CBD and are, as the name suggests, consumed by eating. Gummies are especially popular CBD pills and capsules offer an easy alternative to those who prefer not to taste or smoke CBD.

CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD and can be added to tea or coffee, during cooking, baking and used in every other ingestion method. Very little goes a long way.

Dabbing is a method of inhaling highly concentrated forms of CBD that requires material to be heated to specific temperatures using more specialized equipment. While there are numerous dangers arising from dabbing high-content THC materials, the primary concern rising from CBD dabs lies in the affect on the lungs.
